Simone Zalla Aumaj wins ECHO Award
On September 26 UU student Simone Zalla Aumaj (on the right) was awarded one of the four ECHO Awards 2019.

The jury was impressed with the way she combines her individual challenges and ambitions with the collective struggle of young people in society. Simone wins an all-inclusive summer course at the University of California Los Angeles.

Utrecht University is very proud of Simone and congratulates her and the other winners!

Utrecht University celebrates Coming Out Day 2019
On October 11 the UURainbow network organizes two activities in honor of international Coming Out Day.

At sunrise representatives from Utrecht University, the University of Applied Sciences and LGBT+ student association U.H.S.V. Anteros will hoist the rainbow flag at Utrecht University Hall (Academiegebouw). In the afternoon a Spoken Word performance and drinks will be organized at U-Bar Bodytalk.

'I am a scientist' campaign
At the Faculty of Science opening of the Academic Year 2019/2020 a diversity campaign was launched by the Dean of the Faculty, Isabel Arends, together with Anja Volk. Anja won the Westerdijk Award 2018 and decided to use the prize money to initiate the 'I am a scientist' campaign. 

The campaign seeks to counteract stereotypical expectations about scientists, by showing diversity at full width to the Science academic community (both students and staff).

Call for nominations Diversity & Inclusion Award!
Do you want to highlight a student, employee or team initiative that increases diversity and inclusion within Utrecht University? You can submit your nominations until November 15, 2019! The winner receives €2.500 which can be used for diversity and inclusion improvement within Utrecht University. 

The first ever Diversity & Inclusion Award was awarded to the Supported Study Platform during the New Year's meeting 2019 by Vice-President of the Executive Board Annetje Ottow (pictured).

Diversity and Inclusion Stimulation Fund welcomes applications
The UU Diversity and Inclusion Task Force allocates € 50.000 on a yearly basis to support projects and activities that improve diversity and inclusion among students and employees. The Stimulation Fund has already supported a number of exciting initiatives. Do you have an idea for a project or activity that could use financial support?
